Yoga and meditation

Tradition of Yoga

The yoga proposed is inspired by an authentic tradition that respects the individual, their aspirations, needs and culture, in line with the teachings of T.K.V. Desikachar, son and student of Sri T. Krishnamacharya.
This tradition relies on the great basic treatise of classical yoga: Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtra. The postural, breathing and meditative practices aim to preserve or improve balance, health and attention span in order to harmonise the relationship between the body and the breath. The courses are accessible to all, do not seek performance and adapt to the individual through the creative application of techniques (viniyoga) and progression in the sessions (vinyāsa krama).
Progressive practice and appropriate effort combined with relaxation improve flexibility and body tone, the depth and subtlety of the breath, and lead to living with greater presence.

Since 2014, the French Institute of Yoga (IFY) has become a full member of the European Union of Yoga (UEY), guaranteeing adequate training in terms of duration (at least 4 years and 500 hours of training courses), pedagogy, knowledge assessment and monitoring of teachers after their studies. A code of ethics is signed by each student in their education to ensure a solid ethical foundation in the profession.

Meditation

At the heart of our activities and closely linked to the practice of yoga is the study, practice and transmission of meditation.

We are interested in the practice of mindfulness meditation, which is the fundamental practice of meditation. It consists in sitting on a cushion or chair and doing nothing but remaining open to whatever arises – thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations. This is the initial and fundamental gesture of any practice. It is also a gesture that we must constantly relearn. Each time we sit down, we must rediscover it anew, reviving the living movement of the practice.

Our meditation practices are inspired and actualised in a lively and open way, based on the teachings and practices of the Reso meditation school.

The monthly workshops

Yoga and mindfulness meditation

Meeting regularly once a month to practise together.
During these workshops, the first part is dedicated to yoga practice and the second part is devoted to mindfulness meditation. At each meeting, different types of guided meditation are offered, each illuminating one of the aspects of meditation (attention, presence, confidence, encountering emotions and thoughts, courage, kindness, compassion, …).
